Sack race

Activity

Sack race

What to do with this activity?

Put both legs into a sack and you can't walk but instead have to jump along! It's easy to trip over and if you fall it's hard to get up again.

Sack races are popular on school sports days, but they are also fun for a childrens' party or on any dry day. As well as being fun, hopping around is good physical exercise.

You can buy sacks quite cheaply online if you don't have any. Of course, only do this activity on grass so that falling doesn't injure.

  • Why am I doing this?

One of the ways children learn is through play. A child who is playing is refining learning skills that continue to develop during childhood and beyond. Indoor and outdoor games are a great way of practising some of the reading, writing and number skills your child has learned.

  • How can I do more?

Encourage your child to teach you a game – letting them teach you something is empowering for your child.
