Remember 2021!

Remember 2021!

What to do with this activity?

Each of us is making history at the moment and what a year last year was for all of us!

A book of memories becomes more special as the years roll by and your child grows up. Find a large notebook or scrap book for your child to turn into a book of memories.

Encourage your child to print some photos that you or they take during the year. Write captions to say who is in the photos, where they were taken, and any other fun information. Add nice pictures from magazines or travel brochures of celebrities or fashion they like, or favourite places. Add ticket stubs or leaflets of places you have visited. Encourage them to write down what they thought about the things they have experienced.

Make sure they remember the year 2021!

  • Why am I doing this?

Writing is like a muscle – the more your child practises it the stronger their writing ability will become. Your child is also more likely to write about things they like or are interested in – writing is a way to express yourself and using writing in this way can be more meaningful to a child. Word searches and crosswords can help with pattern recognition and spelling, and help build vocabulary and spelling.

  • How can I do more?

Give your child lots of opportunities to write - notes, birthday cards, emails or text messages. Encourage your child to make and write their own books about something they are interested in, for example, cars, dinosaurs, fairies or dogs. They can draw or stick in their own pictures.
